EV charging for schools in Cornwall & Devon
Manta Power installs EV chargers for schools and colleges across Cornwall and Devon. State-funded education institutions can claim the Workplace Charging Scheme, covering up to 75% of costs, up to £2,000 per socket, for chargers used by staff, visitors or the public.
Typical setup
- Schools usually start with 4 to 10 sockets in the staff car park.
- 7kW chargers suit staff parked for the working day.
- 22kW suits sites with a three-phase supply that want faster turnover, for example opening to visitors in the evening.
- Rapid (DC) charging only makes sense if the site will be a busy public charging hub.
How the money works
- Staff pay for charging through an app, typically at a lower rate than public chargers.
- Optionally, open the chargers to visitors or the public out of hours for extra income.
- Public use must follow the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023; we set this up for you.
