EV charging for hotels and B&Bs in Cornwall & Devon

Manta Power installs guest EV chargers for hotels and B&Bs across Cornwall and Devon. Guests pay for their own charging by app or QR code, so the electricity cost is passed on, and the OZEV Workplace Charging Scheme can cover up to 75% of the install, up to £500 per socket.

    Typical setup

    • Most hotels and B&Bs start with 2 to 6 sockets in the guest car park.
    • 7kW chargers suit overnight guests: a typical car gains 40 to 50kWh in 7 hours.
    • 22kW suits sites with a three-phase supply and shorter stays, such as restaurant or day visitors.
    • Rapid (DC) charging only makes sense on busy roadside sites with a large supply; we'll tell you honestly if it's worth it.

    How the money works

    • Guests start and pay for charging through an app or by scanning a QR code on the charger.
    • You set the price per kWh. Typical guest tariffs in the area are 35p to 45p per kWh.
    • Your margin is the difference between that price and what you pay for electricity.

OZEV grant for hotels and B&Bs

    • OZEV Workplace Charging Scheme for small accommodation businesses (up to 249 staff, including hotels, holiday accommodation and camping/caravan parks).
    • Covers up to 75% of costs, to a maximum of £500 per socket.
    • Up to 40 sockets per business, and guests may use the chargers.
    • Open until 31 March 2027.
